Our Officers

President - Molly Brannan

Molly is a senior majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management. This is her fourth and final year at Texas State and will pursue a career as an HR Generalist following graduation. She is from Sugarland, TX, and collects houseplants and crystals.

The President is in charge of organizing and running meeting and events, and also responsible for communicating with other organizations, guest speakers, faculty, and members regarding any issues related to events organized by the society. The president has authority over the society underneath the faculty advisor, and has the authority to lead discussions, allocation of funds, and make final decisions in the events of disputes.

Vice President - Juan Balleza Moreno

Juan is a business student majoring in Business Marketing with a minor in International Business. He is a freshman to the university with goals to innovate the marketplace of ideas in the world of business. Originally from Mexico, but has lived in Texas for the past four years with dedication towards his academic future and love for plants.​

The Vice-President is in charge of organizing and running meetings in absence of the president. The VP is also responsible for assisting the president in decision-making, planning and running all events and meetings. In the case of president stepping down, the VP is responsible for stepping up to take the role of the president until an election is held to select the new president.​

Treasurer - Lyn Marquez

Lyn is a Marketing major with a Theatre minor. They are currently a junior. Lyn particularly likes to spend time working on various things such as writing, drawing, and sewing. They took on the position of treasurer mainly to better understand the role more, seeing as there is a close resemblance between that task and their current major.

The Treasurer is in charge of collecting funds, organizing fundraising events, filing tax information, maintaining financial documents, communicating financial status with the officers, and bookkeeping for the society’s budget.

Historian - Sophia Kottke​​

Sophia is a Junior at Texas State, originally from Austin, Texas. She is studying biology and anthropology, spending much of her time working in a plant molecular biology lab. While there, she fell in love with plants. She has long term goals of pursuing graduate school to conduct research on epigenetic effects in early and modern hominin evolution. In her free time, she loves travel, hiking, and photography. 

​The Historian is in charge of managing the bulletin board, CANVAS site, social-networking site, and the society website. The duties include updating information on each site, managing links to external sites, advertising for upcoming events, and designing posters and flyers. The historian is also responsible for taking pictures and maintaining a digital record of the events organized by the society, and posting on websites and on the bulletin board.

Secretary - Ramon Peña

Ramon is originally from the Rio Grande Valley where he obtained his Associates Degree from South Texas College and then transferred over to Texas State University. Currently, Ramon is a junior majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Biochemistry. He has hopes to pursue graduate school after he finishes his undergrad.

The Secretary is in charge of maintaining meeting minutes, and communicating the meeting proceedings with the officers, and the faculty adviser. The secretary is also responsible for facilitating communication with the organization membership​.
Volunteer Coordinator - Angela Gonzalez

Angela is majoring is Biology with a minor in Spanish. This is her second year at Texas State, and plans in pursuing a career in healthcare after her studies. She was born and raised in Waco, Texas, and enjoys the outdoors when she’s not studying.

​The
Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for working with the president and the vice-president to establish member involvement at various volunteer events on and off campus, maintaining safe working environment and ensuring welfare of the volunteers during the events.
